The Peach Sunset

The Peach Sunset

I felt like a kid again,

lying down and pretending to sleep in vain.

I could feel the sun rays on my skin,

a blissful warmth; a ray of hope to soak in.

I sat up after a while, my mind at ease,

and looked through the window; a soft breeze,

ruffled up the leaves of a nearby peepul.

the birds flew home, as did the tired people.

Mr. Sun was on his way to the other ocean.

Try as I might, i couldn’t see him in motion.

He blushed a fiery red,

and quickened his pace, anxious to get to bed.

The sky picked up his demeanour,

though her colouration was a meagre
peach to his fire. They cast a surreal light,

bathing every nook with all their might.

I knew science had an explanation for this,

involving wavelengths and frequencies

But I guess that takes the charm out of such a scene,

making it a slew of equations hard to perceive.

The thirst of curiosity begs to be quenched,

but you need to remember that which started the quests.

The beauty of simple things,

which gave your imagination its wings.

And then it was all over.

The sun went down and dusk took over.

I dragged myself off the cot, feeling foggy,

time to head to the kitchen and beg for coffee.
